Easter should be the greatest holiday. It is the day that Jesus paid it all and overcame death and the power of the evil one, forever and ever! His love for us gave us new life and access to our Father. There is no better gift than His gift of eternal life.
“He swallowed up death in victory; the Lord God will wipe away tears from all their faces; he will take the reproach from his people and the earth, for the Lord has spoken it!” Isaiah 25: 8
My first job was being the Easter bunny during Easter break; working for a department store in Honolulu. You can imagine how hot it was in that costume in the tropical heat. I made good money for a seven year old though. My older sister played the bigger bunny. It was so much fun…I even got to ride with the governor of Hawaii on the back of the limousine for the Easter parade.
My Easter Decor
The handmade wooden eggs that I decorated so many years ago…an Easter tradition.
Have a wonderful time celebrating new life with your family and friends!
We have not hosted a family Easter Day in at least a decade, we’ve always celebrated out of town at grandmas’. It was so delightful to be able to cook and share our feast with three of our children and friends. Here was our menu:
More pics from Easter…lemon cake, Easter Tree, Peeps on the rum soaked carrot cupcakes, Easter banner…*We had fun blowing up Peeps in the microwave, who knew they grow 5X their size and turn into one big enormous blob!
“the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, …so then He will also restore life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you.” Romans 8:11
Projects to Come:
Here are two projects that I am currently working – the “before”! Keep watching for their total makeovers!
Today’s project was so easy and so fun. I found two Pottery Barn Kids valance curtains at Goodwill for $2.99! I instantly thought of Easter and a new runner that I could make by sewing them together. The farm animals were adorable and were handmade, and the gingham border was perfect for spring. I had to cut off the rod pockets on top of each valance in order to sew the two sides together. No hemming, no remeasuring, and so easy because they were exactly the same, bam! – done in 10 minutes. Inspiration can come at any time, keep your eyes open for things around you!
I styled the table runner for my coffee table – kind of whimsical, kind of elegant.Collage of the hand sewn animals on the new table runner.
Here are some Easter tablescapes that caught my eye while surfing the net. I love all sorts of styles; chic, cute, elegant, springy, whimsical, brights, pastels, natural, and even cookies. I wanted inspire you this holiday, which includes Passover and spring, to liven up your homes and smile with new ideas. Enjoy the “eye candy”!
I always try to credit the photos that I share hoping I got them correctly listed, to direct you to websites that may give you an urge of creativity, and inspire you to seek out the many sites that are awesome.
Piles of Easter decorations to make our annual table scape. This year more pastels! (A huge trend in decorating right now.) Call me crazy, but I’m not a traditionalist, nor very sentimental – harsh, when you think of all the Easters that we have had with all my kids in years past. I am the type who always needs things fresh and new. So keep checking in to see how this pile of fun will develop. I love the bag of chocolate bunnies (the biggest is 8″ tall) and eggs we found at Cost Plus.
Wrought Iron Stools
These are the wooden circles that I cut and stained to fit in the iron seats that attaches to the curved legs.
A pile of legs and parts that needed repair so badly.
The refurbishing is going well, except one mistake that I’ve made, which was using the wrong polyurethane to coat the seats. I used an oil-based sealant instead of water-based and it is taking eons to dry. That is why this project wasn’t finished before now. Can’t wait to show you the results!
Scripture of the Week:
This scripture is such a great reminder when people upset or irritate you, especially when it is the people who are closest to you and they test your patience. God’s Word is so powerful – really and truly.
