Easter should be the greatest holiday. It is the day that Jesus paid it all and overcame death and the power of the evil one, forever and ever! His love for us gave us new life and access to our Father. There is no better gift than His gift of eternal life.
“He swallowed up death in victory; the Lord God will wipe away tears from all their faces; he will take the reproach from his people and the earth, for the Lord has spoken it!” Isaiah 25: 8
My first job was being the Easter bunny during Easter break; working for a department store in Honolulu. You can imagine how hot it was in that costume in the tropical heat. I made good money for a seven year old though. My older sister played the bigger bunny. It was so much fun…I even got to ride with the governor of Hawaii on the back of the limousine for the Easter parade.
My Easter Decor
The handmade wooden eggs that I decorated so many years ago…an Easter tradition.
Have a wonderful time celebrating new life with your family and friends!
I realize that summer isn’t over, but with school starting next week it feels like it is coming to an end; the ending of fresh days and carefree living that summer always brings. This year we had no huge vacation plans but did little excursions and events that made it so special. The most important thing I’ve been rediscovering lately is how important family and friends are. They make our lives have tremendous purpose and meaning and without their unconditional love, we would be empty souls with no grounding.
I thought I’d share some photo tidbits of this summer and possibly inspire you to think back on these past few months and reflect on how awesome this season is.
Harvest and Outdoors
Bountiful and beautiful tomatoes Resulting in quarts of pasta sauce
Flowers everywhere. Cosmos were planted to honor my mom, who always had them in her garden.
The luxury of swimming every day. Soaking up the sun.
Decorating for the Season
Finding that special item that says it all – America, land that I love.
Finding the right spot for a new sign.
Beach themed everything.
Even my new huge mug reminds me of sailing away.
Off the subject but loved this sign:
Going to the Fair – Family Time
Tilt-a-Whirl – my kids are on it. Yikes!
My kids having more fun…gone are those days of BIG rides for me though.
The end of a very long day
Time to work on the good things of life (in progress)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
“Youwillknow them by their fruits.” Matthew 7:16
When it really comes down to it, the Gospel is very simple. We have a loving and good Father (God), who desired to have a relationship with the mankind that He created, giving them a free will. When man made the choice to turn away to their own reasoning, sin entered the world and their hearts. The only way for God to restore this intimate relationship with His people was to send His Son, Jesus, to this world to become the sacrifice for the sin that ensnared them. With His precious blood that was shed for all and His resurrection from the dead, Jesus broke the curse of sin forever. Man was free to step into eternal life and the reconciliation of relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and was given the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, to do the greater works that Jesus did. Our part is in the cooperation of being led by the Holy Spirit to be transformed into the image of God’s dear Son, producing fruit in the world around us.
We are loving all the days on the road, seeing things we have never imagined. Sedona, Arizona is an absolutely wonderful and beautiful place. The natural rock formations that surround this area are an incredible testimony of God’s imagination and glory. I thought I’d just give you a small view of what we’ve experienced, it has been such a great place to journey to on this vacation.
These pictures don’t even do justice to the grandeur and scope of Sedona.
Joy is not an option in our lives. It is one of the Fruit of the Spirit, the fruit Jesus will be looking for when we stand before Him. It is one of the components of the Kingdom of God which is righteousness. peace and joy. God sits on His throne in Heaven and laughs (Ps. 2:4), it is our strength (the joy of the Lord is my strength -Neh. 8:10 ), and it is something that lives deeply in our Spirit.
I recently went through a season where every aspect of my life was difficult and I absolutely had no joy, but I knew joy was exactly what I needed to break free of my funk (ail, distress, trouble; daunt, demoralize, discourage, dishearten, dismay, dispirit, get down, bother, concern, discomfort, disquiet, disturb, perturb, undo, unhinge, unsettle, upset, – some of the synonyms I felt for funk). So I made a conscious decision to walk in the positive and not believe the lie of what I was experiencing…remember we walk by the truth not by our past or by feelings. (Inspired by Steve Backlund this weekend!) Joy is not happiness, it is a living thing in our spirits that we carry because of what our Lord did for us! You might say that your personality doesn’t make room for joy and laughter, that you are a somber and serious person, but oh, contraire – we must live in sacrifice; the sacrifice of praise continually (which brings great joy).
I was so serious to be reminded that every day that I needed to experience joy, that I bought letters to make a sign for my office (yes, my office is painted pink – soon to be updated)!
Believe God that He wants the best for you and the quickest way to joy is thankfulness, praise, and rejoicing! Remember what is true and ask God for a transformation of your mind – to know what the will of God is! Blessings!
